Hi grandma! Please spoil me.

So we did not want to tell my mom too soon, the only grandparent this little one will know at this point.

Though we’ve known since 4 weeks, we didn’t want to tell her immediately in case there were issues. I have heard too many stories about miscarriages and missed miscarriages, I really needed to be 11-12 weeks before we told her. Having visited the Dr. today, we were ready.  A few weeks ago I bought a pack of bibs that revolved around Grandma, like “Grandma’ lil’ cutie” and we put them on 4 little stuffed bears.

Side story: About 6 months ago, I come home from work to find her sitting in the living room recliner, rocking away. She was holding a stuff bear up on one shoulder like if you were burbing it. I asked her what she was doing. Her response, “Since you guys are not going to give me a real grandbaby then I will need to just settle for this bear.”

So Brian goes downstairs to her room to show her the bear with bib. She looked confused. I show up with 3 more bears with bibs. We set them in her lap and she starts to read through all of the bibs. She is not getting it! So she tells us to take this out of her room. She said, just because these are your babies does not mean they are to me. *sigh* So Brian starts rubbing my belly. She doesn’t notice. He keeps going. Finally she looks at me and says, really?

She was in a bit of denial but happy. Brian was disappointed in her reaction. But I knew. My show no emotion mom. Later she cornered me to ask a bunch of questions. All is good. One family member down. A bunch more to go.
