Why do you wish me bad health?

So we are officially 38 weeks along today and starting at about week 35, I’ve been getting lots of inquires about how much longer I will be working.  People seem really shocked that plan to work until I go into labor.

I’ve also been asked why I’m still at work. Or when I will start “bed rest.”

Perhaps I am confused here…isn’t bed rest for those that need it. Their bodies are really struggling to support the baby and the doctor needs the baby to stay in longer to make let more development occur?

Others want to know why I have not required Brian to drop me off at the building everyday and pick me up instead of having to walk to and from the parking deck.  Brian does drop me off at the building on days that I feel bad. In fact, every morning as we approach campus, he will ask me how I feel and if I’d like to be dropped off or not.

I think if I just sat at home and waited for the baby to arrive, I would drive myself crazy analyzing every feeling or movement from the baby.  I’m getting slower and weaker with each day, but I can still walk and work so I will continue to do so until I medically can not anymore.

So instead of insisting I need to be on bed rest, perhaps you should be happy that I am doing good, the baby is doing good and I can continue with most normal day activities (just a little slower).
